I had never watched the show when it was on HBO, but Im using my online rental service to catch up on a bunch of shows. Im currently in the middle of Season 2 and find it to be a very interesting depiction of hoe death affects all involved. It also seems to be a level playing field for all religions. Anyone else watch it? What do you think? Im I in for a treat with the next three seasons? What show should I tackle next.

I watched every episode of Six Feet Under when it was on HBO. The final episode is one of the best finale's I've ever seen, so you have that to look forward to.

I never really thought out the show in terms of religion, to be honest. I was more aware of the fact that people have to do that "dirty job," and the psychological adjustment it would take to deal with it. I have a brain in my office, and although I'm used to it now, I have to admit that it freaked me out a bit at first to be around it. I had a similar experience recently when I saw the Body Worlds exhibit when it visited San Jose, CA. This is an exhibit of plastinated human bodies and body parts that travels around the world; it causes a lot of controversy most of the time because some people consider the human body to be "sacrid." The man who runs this exhibit wants to educate, but it makes no difference to the protesters.

Anyway, please post more on your Six Feet Under thoughts. I'd like to know more about what you mean.

I'd like to second the recommendation of Dexter. My sister introduced me to the show last year and I've been hooked ever since. It's probably the best new show I've seen in the past few years. It's amazing how well they manage to mesh the genres of drama, thriller, and black comedy together into a hell of an entertaining ride.

anyway. to those who recommended Dexter, i'm already hooked. i got into that one last year, and figured i would watch six feet under while im waiting for season 3 of dexter to start. that Michael C Hall can do anything apparently

Have you seen Dead Like Me? It's a Showtime series about a girl who dies and joins a team of grim reapers. It's a neat little comedy/drama, dealing with themes of death, grief, etc. in a quirky manner. It has its own sort of mythology for the afterlife, rather than being based off of any particular religion or spirituality. It only lasted a couple seasons, but it's well worth checking out, if you haven't already.

I'm totally with you on Lost, Heroes, Dexter...and even a bit with Weeds. I can't get into the silliness of Scrubs; maybe I should try it again? As for Family Guy, I stopped watching that when I saw them making fun of AIDS. Some things are just beyond ridicule, and as someone who has lost more than his share of friends to AIDS, I can't imagine the level of insensitivity and/or immaturity it takes to laught at something like that.

On a lighter rant, WHEN THE HELL ARE THE NEW EPISODES OF ALL THESE SHOWS GONNA START? The writers' strike is over, isn't it? LOL

To answer the first question. I really like Dead Like Me. In fact, I think they have filmed a movie to bring it to a close. I hope that it's released soon.

I heard that Dexter and Weeds will start this summer, Heroes in September, and Lost comes back in about 4 weeks for 5 more episodes before taking off until the fall.

I heard Julia is working on a possible pilot for In The Family Way. Any truth to this?

Ooooo, In The Family Way would be a wonderful show I think. Though with your life as it is, marraige and child and God knows what else, would that be a possibility there Julia?

I'm in the middle of season (I think) 4 of Six Feet Under and I'm liking it pretty well. I don't watch TV very much so I missed a lot of shows that turned out to be good (Buffy, Deadwood, etc) until I heard people raving about them. Next on my NetFlix is Dead Like Me, which was recommended to me by the same person who turned me on to Six Feet Under. You guys are making a pretty strong case for Dexter, I'll probably check that out soon.

The current shows that I do keep up with are (roughly in order of how favorite they are): Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, Lost, Pushing Daisies, and House.

I know a lot of people who recommended Deadwood to me and I decided to give it a whirl and I made it as far as episode 2 of season 1. I'm not crazy about westerns, but good is good I suppose. This particular show, however, was not enjoyable in the least. First of all, there was wayyyyyy to much profanity. I thought I had a dirty mouth but this was over the top like I had never seen, and to me it just served no purpose. Also, the whole look of the show left me with the feeling that I had to shower after every viewing.
I don't wish to dissuade anyone else from possibly enjoying it, but it was just not for me.

Currently watching episode 9 of Six Feet Under season 2. Things are gettin CRAZY

Ooohhh, man, you're missing out. Al Swearingin develops into one of the most ... loss for words ... compelling? complete? ... anyway, well-built characters out there. He's a rat bastard, but they manage to make him sympathetic, which is really not that unusual, but they do it without diminishing the potency of his rat bastardry, which is quite unusual. Actually all of the characters on Deadwood are a cut above. I consider the swearing a plus; my swearing got much better after watching Deadwood. Not like I learned new words, but new syntaxes.

Just, whatever you do, if you opt to play the Deadwood drinking game (very simple, you take a drink whenever someone on the show takes a drink), DO NOT play for more than two episodes in one night or you will die. This is actually a court-mandated public service announcement.

Anyway, season two of Six Feet Under? Hang on, things'll get crazier.

CURSES! I was planning on having a night in with the arrival of the next SIX FEET UNDER disc, scheduled to arrive in the mail today. Well, while I did receive a blue and gold envelope in the mail, it did not contain disc four of season 2, but DISC 5!!! They skipped over disc four for some unknown reason as it was listed as "available". They are due to send me two more discs tomorrow. Im just saying, one of them better be disc 4 or else! What a night for the cable box to be out!

This is why your envelopes should be RED, dude. That way, you'll know that Netflix is sending the discs. LOL

I've been using Netflix since they begain, and I've NEVER had a single glitch. Three movies at a time, at least a dozen a month, and no problems whatsoever. Well okay, our postal worker apparently stole one once...but he got fired, and it wasn't Netflix's fault. They also sent another disc within 24 hours and never said a word about it.
